MY STORY
The Nixon Plumber is a one-man van (sole trader) based in the Inner North of Canberra.
Hi, my name is Chris. In March 2020 I started my own plumbing company “The Nixon Plumber”, specialising in residential maintenance. I started my company due to a lack of good, reliable plumbers in Canberra who actually care about the interests of their customers. The Nixon Plumber is a reference to the Watergate scandal and “The Plumbers”. Although I can definitely “fix leaks” I am also experienced in all aspects of plumbing in residential houses.
I grew up on a grain and cattle farm just outside the small town of Coonamble in country NSW before starting my apprenticeship in Sydney with the Master Plumbers Association of NSW, during which I mostly worked as a maintenance plumber. After my apprenticeship I went into commercial construction doing high rise unit blocks before moving to London, where I was a full time maintenance plumber for the BBC building in White City and worked in commercial construction and was also part of the team that commissioned the plumbing for the Olympic Village.
Upon returning to Australia I worked for one of Australia’s largest commercial plumbing companies working mostly in Sydney before I decided I wanted to go back into maintenance. I then worked as a commercial maintenance plumber specializing in high rise commercial buildings and Sydney’s CBD and North Sydney.
Since moving to Canberra I have worked in commercial, mechanical (HVAC) and maintenance plumbing before starting my company.
I live in the Inner North with my wife who works in the APS and our young family.
Rates
Service Fee (Similar to a callout fee but i include 30 minutes of labour) $150
$75 Every 30 minutes after
Eel fee $350 first hour (Includes eel,Camera and locator) then $75 every 30 minutes after.
